Serious Questions About A Murder Confession

Yesterday, Cabal News (not a typo) was all "We caught the guy who killed Jon-Benet Ramsey."

Today, there are "serious questions" about the man's confession.

I ask you: If you were facing a prison term in a Thailand hell hole, what would you do? Would you confess to a sensational crime that would guarantee your extradition back to the USA?

Best bar bet in the world: Delilah didn't do it.

Close-ish question. For him, I'd say it would be better to take the Thai hell-hole and the longer sentence.

I heard this from someone who did two bids upstate for strong-arm robbery: "prison is like the outside but more so...how you get by outside is how you get by inside". That seemed to make sense. From what other people who've done time have told me, the key to avoiding trouble is (a) not to look for it and (b) the ability to be of some use to some identifiable group with whom you can caucus.

In other words, it doesn't always have to go down like it does in the movies and on TV.

With "short eyes" all of that goes out the window, because (a) trouble goes looking for "short eyes" and (b) no group will admit "short eyes" as a member.

He's in much bigger trouble doing 5 in the USA than in doing 20 in Thailand. His attorneys have to know that. So, why is he doing it? Someone on Air America suggested that it was asked of him by the Bush administration to do this to provide some news noise to drown out stuff they didn't like. Maybe a quid pro quo was in the offing? Like 5 years in a mental hostpital instead of in a Colorado penal facility.

Not implausible. There has always been a Boulder connection to the Republican hierarchy. Think John Hinckley. Aristocrat. Cousin of a number of CIA operatives. Absolutely locked-in a second Reagan term by shooting and only slightly-wounding Ronald Reagan.

Moreover, I believe strongly that if JonBenet's parents did not commit the crime themselves or in concert with this fellow, they were at minimum accomplices before and after the fact. Ms. Ramsey, as we know, has joined the majority, god rest or the devil torture her soul. It's possible Mr. Ramsey was willing to take the heat so long as his wife didn't have to. It's all rank speculation, but good fun.
