George W.'s Honorable Men

Everything you ever wanted to know about politics and war is neatly tucked inside Julius Caesar...

How to successfully smear a rival by attacking his physical weaknesses and his ambition

How to con the righteous into joining your conspiracy

How to win a debate by speaking last, claiming not to be a good public speaker, and then showing point-by-point how your opponent's motives are suspect

How to form a war coalition and betray the weakest ally for your own gain

How to rationalize a pre-emptive strike

How to demonstrate the dishonorable qualities of men while referring to them as honorable:
Before pausing to weep, Antony repeats the phrase “Brutus is an honorable man” three times, by which time his meaning is clear to everyone. But through his use of irony he has managed to keep, at the literal level, his agreement not to speak ill of the assassins.

In the remainder of his speech, he repeats the word “honorable” no less than five times, in reference to Brutus, Cassius and the rest of the conspirators. The word acquires more and more ironic force with each repetition, until it rings out as a fierce condemnation of the murderers.

... Which brings us to George W. and his band of Honorable Men, the Swiftboat Liars For Bush...

George W. says he honors John Kerry's military service, yet he refuses to condemn these Honorable Men who are smearing Kerry and diverting the country's attention from Bush's failures.

These men claim to be speaking out against Senator Kerry because he supposedly dishonored the military and now has presidential political ambitions.

Of course, these Honorable Men have been outed as liars, one and all.

They claim to have no connection to the Bush re-selection campaign, which would be honorable; however...
