Simply Appalling:
BushCo reassures India--
"Outsourcing Here To Stay!"

Until recently, very few Americans would have been able to read the article in the Economic Times of India, wherein Bush administration officials (Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage and Deputy Assistant to the President Robert Blackwill) assured a delegation of Indian Parliamentarians and businessmen that "offshoring is here to stay despite campaign rhetoric."

recently- before the Internet.

The incomparable Handy Fuse found this story and posted it at

My 2ยข worth on this issue...

Fact: We owe much of our recent technological progress to Silicon Valley's Indian immigrants.

Fact: Nationwide, the median income of Indian immigrants is over $39,000, which connotes both appreciation and acceptance.

Fact: Outsourcing US jobs to India is good for India and good for US corporate profit margins.

Fact: Most US consumers, aware of our lost US jobs/offshoring crisis, now resent anyone on a help line with an Indian accent.

Fact: Indians (and any other help line worker with an accent) will now face inevitable discrimination, disguised somehow by CEOs, when they apply for help line jobs.

Isn't this just great?

Not only are US corporate pirates subsidizing India's economy, they are also creating a NEW&IMPROVED brand of American discrimination for our homegrown Crackers to celebrate.

Question: Will you ever again assume that a help line voice with an accent belongs to a US worker?

Question: Now that we know that Indians in India are perfecting American accents and developing American Heartland personae (Hi! I'm Chuck in Omaha!), will you even know the difference?
What will you think if India makes the Japanese "MADE IN USA" urban legend a reality by certifying Indian villages as Omaha, Grand Rapids, or Dallas?

Simply appalling.
