In Memoriam

The country mourns the passing of Senator Eugene McCarthy and comedian Richard Prior. Both will be missed.

Oh, by the way, Lance Corporal Andrew Patten returned home from Iraq this weekend.

His coffin was shipped to Chicago as freight, warehoused, and delivered to his father by forklift.

Alan Patten (C) and his fiancee Diane Kerr pick up
the remains of Alan's nineteen-year-old son
US Marine Lt. (sic) Cpl Andrew Patten, who was
killed in Fallujah, at O'Hare airport.

Later today, when Lance Corporal Patten is laid to rest, The Hateful Handful from Westboro Baptist Church plan to protest his funeral...

They believe that "military deaths are punishment from God."

Oh, that picture made me wince. I'm amazed that photo was allowed to be taken in the first place.
