How Many Basic Traps Can Obama Fall Into?

Campaigns are pretty much predictable. Some candidate usually accuses an opponent of being the cause of all possible ills; someone always boasts a better chance of winning votes from the other side of the aisle (thus, alienating the party base); one candidate usually refuses to debate another; and, sometimes a candidate gets caught sending out sleaze to voters.

This is not the candidate who usually wins, though.

Today, let's take a look at candidate Obama...

First, he gets caught sending out a mailer blaming Bill Clinton for all of the horrid crap Newt Gingrich and his Republican minions perpetrated. Hm. Must be more of Obama's "Republicans had better ideas" crap...

And, of course, he still wants to "unite red states and blue states." Like that's gonna happen.

Now he's refusing to debate Senator Clinton.

Reporters live for this kind of rookie mistake. Every one of them has a "candidate shuns debate" or "candidate refuses to debate" clip in his/her file. I even used that when I worked on coordinated campaigns in Michigan, and every newswire picked up the story. It's a no-brainer column inch filler.
