NARAL: "Help keep the Democratic Party's platform strongly pro-choice!"

WTF?

NARAL endorsed Obama back in May, and now its president, Nancy Keenan, is concerned about keeping the Democratic Party's platform strongly pro-choice?

Here's the text of Nancy's message:

On Thursday, I have the privilege of traveling to Pittsburgh to sit on the Democratic Party Platform Committee to discuss, amend, and ratify the party platform. I want to arrive with the full strength of America's pro-choice majority at my side.

Click here to send a message to the Democratic Party Platform Committee by Thursday so that I can hand-deliver your petition to the Secretary of the Democratic National Committee.

Representing the voices of the millions of Americans who cherish their reproductive freedom is something I cannot do alone. That's why I'll be hand-delivering your messages to Alice Germond, the Secretary of the Democratic National Committee.

The Democratic Party has invited activists across the country to meet and make suggestions about the platform. We cannot take the Democratic Party's longtime pro-choice position for granted—we need to demonstrate our strength.

Help keep the Democratic Party's platform strongly pro-choice. Flex the muscle of America's pro-choice majority by sending your message today!

And then join me in the coming months in taking the next critical step. Eight years of George Bush's attacks on our fundamental rights has been more than enough; please donate today, because we need your support to prevent four more years of the same from John McCain. With the Supreme Court close to evenly split on choice and privacy, we can't afford Sen. McCain in the Oval Office. We must elect a pro-choice leader, Sen. Barack Obama, as president of the United States.

Thank you for all you continue to do.

My best,

Nancy Keenan

But... but...

I thought we were supposed to be afraid of a McCain administration's dismantling of Roe v Wade, Nancy.

You endorsed Obama, even though he said that women should consult their husbands and ministers, as well as their physicians... and pray for guidance when considering terminating a pregnancy.

Suck it, Nancy. You asked for this mess.

Number of days since Donna Brazile promised to leave the party if superdelegates decided the Dem nominee:

Donna has known for a long time now that superdelegates would be necessary for any Dem candidate to win the nomination this year. Ask Donna when she intends to keep her promise.
Don't hold your breath awaiting a reply.

I've read that there are anti-choice Black ministers pressuring candidates to not take money from Planned Parenthood. There is also an article out that I'll look for where the Democratic Party is being encouraged to change the platform to one of reducing abortions.
