Obama to MI & FL: "I Absolve You... Now That You Can't Affect My Party's Platform" (Major Update)

Major Update: Denver's 9News.com reports...

The DNCC also announced plans to use an advanced voting system for the presidential, vice presidential and platform votes that will take place during the convention. The system will incorporate both paper and electronic balloting to ensure the integrity of the vote.

So... everything the Democratic Party hated about the 2000 and 2004 elections (namely, the vote stealing via electronic voting machines) is now the totally best thing ever?

I smell Obama/Dean/Brazile.

Back to today's blog post...

The Democratic Party's official blog is called...

Betch you never thought that blog title sentiment would stand for the party's treatment of fellow Dems.

The magnificent, magnanimous, messianic... uh, Baracktrack H. Obama has decided that Michigan and Florida voters should be counted as whole people with whole votes now.

Now that it's too late for MI & FL Democrats to affect the 2008 Democratic Obama Party Platform, that is.

Each state allocates its committee positions to presidential candidates based on the results of the state's presidential primary or caucus. Presidential candidates who have qualified to receive committee positions nominate individuals for each committee, who are then elected by the state's National Convention delegates.
A detailed description of how and when each state and territory's standing committee members are elected can be found within the state or territory's Delegate Selection Plan.

How convenient for Obama that MI & FL Dems only counted as half people during this committee seating process!

Wait. There's more.

Who chairs the party platform committee?

The chair is appointed by the Dem Party Chair (Howard Dean).

Who chairs the platform drafting committee?

The chair is appointed by the Dem Party Chair (Howard Dean).

Who sits on the platform drafting committee?

The 15 members are appointed by the Dem Party Chair (Howard Dean).

When is the platform presented during the convention?

The Platform Committee's Report is usually considered on the second day (Tuesday) of the Convention.

So... even if MI & FL get their full votes restored on the first night of the convention, the party platform deal has already been done. And printed. And bound. And distributed.

How does it feel, MI & FL? You got screwed six ways to Sunday, and now you're expected to thank Obama for his absolution of your Dem primary...er, sins?

Your voice is still being silenced.

What are you going to do about it?

Number of days since Donna Brazile promised to leave the party if superdelegates decided the Dem nominee:

Donna has known for a long time now that superdelegates would be necessary for any Dem candidate to win the nomination this year. Ask Donna when she intends to keep her promise.
Don't hold your breath awaiting a reply.
